The Story
The legend of the Poinsettia plant includes a story about a poor Mexican girl named Pepita, who had nothing to give at Christmas Eve services. Her cousin told her to remember that any gift, if given in love, would be beautiful. So, Pepita gathered a bouquet of weeds and left them at the foot of the nativity. Suddenly, the weeds burst into brilliant red blooms, and all who saw them were certain that they had witnessed a Christmas miracle!
